Abstract: In the medieval geste of Alexander, the character of Aristotle is embellished with numerous legendary elements. Nevertheless, the geste displays more links with the real Aristotle than is generally considered the case. As subtle as they may be, these appearances trigger a reflection on key concepts in his philosophy, including “kairos” or the idea of moderation, seen in the perspective of twelfth-century literature.
