Abstract: A major leitmotiv in Valéry’s work, the concept of fiducia occupies a central place in the project for L’Isle sans nom. The possibility of staging the mechanisms behind a concept and its operation is a philosophical strategy dear to Valéry as attested by numerous passages in the Cahiers. Reflections on language, trust, credit, social order, and political power punctuate the texts in the dossier.
