Abstract: Several times translated during the 18th. century, the (apocryphal) Memoirs of Signor Roselli tell the adventures of an unlucky and passionate hero who becomes monk, slave, philosopher, cabbalist, wizard and charlatan. This Unfortunate Neapolitan inaugurates the Novel of the Enlightenment.
