Abstract: Starting with the example of the first French congress on the history of construction, which became entirely international through both its participants and the subjects it discussed, this article presents a few reflections concerning the complex relationships that unify national cultural frameworks and international concerns. An internationalist movement appeared at the time originating as early as the nineteenth century through the circulation of models, materials, and construction techniques.
