  • Abstract: To restore works in concrete from 1915-1936 located in the Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C., the history of reinforced concrete and exposed aggregate surfacing had to be documented. On that occasion, the first experiments performed by John J. Earley were put into historical perspective: the preliminary phase, trials, and implementations. Based on these trials, recommendations were provided for future restoration.
