Abstract: Virgil’s artistic and political general value for the Italian Renaissance might undergo a precise theoretical and ideological evaluation in keeping with its specific use in humanist political thought. This study aims at analysing the poet’s verses found in Aragonese Neapolitan political treatises to classify the various types of their quotation and, thus, shed light on their ideological asset as well as on the reasons for their use by authors like Pontano, Francesco Patrizi or Giuniano Maio.
