Abstract: Observing the influence of the compilation by Montaiglon and Raynaud, Olaf Posmyk deals with German translations of the fabliaux from the 19th century to the present. They show a more or less clear intention to distinguish different genres by opposing the dit to the lay or fabliau. The development of approaches, involving the search for an archaic tone or national models, aiming to instruct or entertain, is illustrated by examples of translations that constantly reflect the problem of terminological actualisation.
