Abstract: The publication of an Amas d’Epithetes recueillis de […] du Bartas in 1596 raises numerous questions concerning the intentions of the Genevan publisher who added it as a supplement to the Dictionnaire des rimes françoises. This collection, which provides its readers with a compendium of Bartasian epithets but with neither references nor examples marks a departure from the pedagogic aims of Textor and the poetic ambitions of La Porte on account of an editorial strategy seeking to promote the name of a prestigious poet.
