Montaigne et Hobbes face aux guerres civiles Une approche girardienne

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: L’Axe Montaigne-Hobbes. Anthropologie et politique
  • Author: Mormino (Gianfranco)
  • Abstract: This article considers the transition from disorder to order – and vice versa – in Montaigne’s and Hobbes’s reflections on the political events of their times. The analysis makes use of several categories drawn from René Girard’s thought and in particular his interpretation of a passage from Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida concerning the notion of hierarchy and its role in the falling apart and re-establishment of social and religious peace.
