Abstract: The development of the culture of perfume is subordinated to theoretical conditions related to the definition of art and its reworking. This necessitates a return to the history of the exclusion of smell from the artistic field in order to promote a broader conception of art. This approach seeks to revise established categories by illuminating the presence of a veritable olfactory art since prehistory.
