Abstract: In book VII of Recherches de la France, Pasquier joined the chorus of praise celebrating Ronsard shortly after his death. But the honors he bestowed were also intended to raise his own standing as a poet. He developed a three-pronged strategy: to reinforce the image of the two poets linked by a close friendship; to establish common ground between his poems and those of Ronsard; and to organize his poetic output according to an “oeconomy” supposedly reminiscent of the Vendôme poet.
