Abstract: This article focuses on one aspect of the commentaries on Ronsard’s Amours written by Muret, Belleau, and Richelet based on their first-edition copies, in which they study the relationship between Ronsard and his Italian forerunners (Petrarch and his lesser-known followers). Particular attention is paid to Richelet’s often-overlooked commentary, showing the way he read (and sometimes misread) Ronsard with an Italian eye.
