Abstract: The res herbaria plays an important role in Pantagruelian fiction. Not only does Rabelais offer several comedic presentations of botanical-medical knowledge, but, through a myriad of medicinal plants and two plant panaceas placed at the ends of the Tiers livre, he meditates on the therapeutic power of nature and on humankind’s place in creation.
