Abstract: The constitution of the figure of the humanist prince necessarily involves work with verbs. These make Gargantua an agent of his own education, as lexical units offering material for fine words (portents of a political mastery of speech), elements of lists combining the humanist precepts celebrating the natural qualities of the prince, and constitutive organizers of a responsible speech that questions, in fine, the prince on what drives his actions.
