  • Abstract: This note presents a review of research showing the traces of an erudite collaboration between Rabelais and Janus Cornarius, a possible historical model for Panurge. The analysis of the Greek edition of Aphorismes by Hippocrates published by Rabelais in 1532 had made it possible to establish that it drew upon an edition of Cornarius published around 1527, and then led to the discovery of marginal notes from the hand of Cornarius in the only Greek manuscript also used by Rabelais for his Aphorismes.
