Abstract: In 1865, Laure de Vialar writes to her son Augustin. Her letter relates something that happened in the 1830s, an Arab prince’s visit to Gaillac, a visit also described by Eugénie de Guérin in her Journal and correspondence, indirectly recalling the situation of those aristocrats who resolved to leave Tarn and settle in Algeria.
