Abstract: The goal of this study is to grasp the logic that pushed Jules Renard (1864-1910) to write about himself in his Journal as well as in his works, to resituate the dialectic between the intimate and its reflection in ink, and to interrogate this desire, begun over and over again, to be the child of his own books.
