Abstract: This work lays the foundation for a reevaluation of Jean-Baptiste Chassignet’s poetic oeuvre. Taking an erudite, historical, and aesthetic approach, it explores the relationship between writing and spirituality, a meditative and dialectic analysis of a vision that combines seduction with horror of elite social gatherings.
