Abstract: Using one of the registers kept by the solicitor Simon d’Artiguemale between March 1474 and March 1476, this study presents the economic and social dynamics animating the parish of Saint-Michel, one of the most populated and active in Bordeaux. It tells us about population movement, fluctuations in merchandise, financial affairs both within and outside the parish, and business and social networks. This has a wider relevance beyond the particular case of Saint-Michel, throwing light on the intense activity which takes place at the heart of all towns.
