Abstract: This volume explores the Good Friday ceremonies that used figures to portray Christ’s burial, celebrated by the clergy and religious brotherhoods in the Middle Ages and at the beginning of the modern era. The six essays concern Bohemia, Italy, the Iberian Peninsula, Scandinavia, and the German-speaking countries.
