Abstract: Jean Wauquelin, in compiling a Latin Life and “un livret rimet en rommant” (a booklet rhyming in French), puts into prose the life of Girart de Roussillon, the first duke of Burgundy and the founder of Vézelay. Combining epic and hagiographic elements, Wauquelin traces his journey from being a hero ruled by pride to gaining the status of a saint.
