Abstract: In 1540 in Paris the humanist Loys Le Roy published the Guillaume Bude biography, Vita Budæi. It is a eulogy of François Ier revealing a sharp political aim: the sovereign splendour depends to his support to humanist culture, Regius stated. His portrait became a concern symbol, which goes through the sixteenth century French culture.
