Abstract: This study focuses the concept of action in Marivaux plays dramatic construction and proposes an “Anatomy of action” model. The action appears as an essential “aesthetic key”, polysemic (gesture, fable, structure, rhythm) and complex, at the crossroads of the multiple currents of thought, imagination and sensitivity. It is a case of rediscovering Marivaux in his creative process, and of bringing lights on the misunderstandings relative to the “lack of action” in his theatre.
