Abstract: This article, based on manuscript documents held in the Paris Opera Library, aims to shed light on certain aspects of Favart’s work as an entrepreneur. In particular, it analyses the strategies he adopted in theatrical management, as compared with other Paris stages, and the role of star actresses at the Opéra Comique. It also relates Favart’s different periods as a theatre director to his work for Count Giacomo Durazzo.
