  • Abstract: Commedia scenarios guided a process of composition-in-performance that achieved flexible, repeatable performance sequences. This process made unusual cognitive demands of the actors. We identify how the cognitive load of performance could have been reduced by “cognitive distribution” practices and the ways in which actors can train and rehearse for composition-in-performance.
