Abstract: Mallarmé may be the “prince of poets”, but the singular creator of the Le Livre and Un coup de dés still remains something of an enigma. Using the documents of the Jacques Polieri collection in the Bibliothèque nationale (Paris) this article examines the latter’s attempt to produce theatrical scenarios for these two major works.
