Abstract: In the margins of a series of conversations on sexuality, Jean-Luc Nancy is asked about his introduction to and opinion of Sartrean thought. Nancy’s answers, candid and nuanced, bear witness to how the French intelligentsia’s reception of Sartre has fluctuated across the generations: from fantasies of killing the father of existentialism to a recognition of the importance of his thought.
