Abstract: A look back at the conversation published in the book Philosophies singulières in order to highlight the existential dimension of Bernard Stiegler's philosophy. This dimension can be seen in the use of a concept and an affect that are transversal to the work: ordeal and despair. Their coherence and their necessity give us an idea of why the question of technology is crucial for our time.
