Abstract: This article aims to analyze what the presence of technology does to the work of art. The sacred dimension of the work of art and the temptation to sanctify the technical object are embodied in the figure of the homo novus, which becomes a paradigm for this difficulty of considering the presence of the technical object in the aesthetic object outside of a relation to the sacred.
