Abstract: The international competition surrounding artificial intelligence is based on a fantasized vision of the possibilities offered by technology. National myths and imaginaries furnish these Promethean technologies with religious hopes and translate them into political terms, to the point of confrontation, an apotheotic promise for some, redeeming for others.
