Abstract: Rahel Jaeggi et Robin Celikates both conceive of social critique as a dialectic enterprise of consciousness-raising, that aims to identify and overcome Erfahrungsblockaden, meaning the limits affecting the reflexive and critical abilities of social agents. However, they advocate for different conceptions of the reconstructive method. We will argue that these different approaches of reconstruction can be explained by diverging views on social transformation processes.
