Abstract: The notion of “vigilant society” has been used in the discourses of public authorities in 2019 after a terrorist attack. It consists of an injunction to the citizen to participate in the collective and institutional effort to improve security. In its principle as in its realization, this notion raises several problems that this article intends to present.
