  • Abstract: Due to the discretion of social sciences voice in bioethics, physicians have been considered as the experts of the “field” for a long time. Drawing on the examples of two field work in oncology and genetics, this paper argue that sociological description can make insightful contribution to bioethical debates. Between the abstract philosophical exposure and the concrete medical implication, the field ethnographic fieldwork allows a potentially useful understanding of ethical practices.
