  • Author: Girard (Charles)
  • Abstract: The common good, denounced as an illusion by the so-called "realist" visions of democracy, is now being rehabilitated by participatory, deliberative and neo-republican theories, which commonly understand it as the common interest of all citizens. Does this definition allows making the common good the end of democratic politics? The analysis of this concept shows that the realistic objection is unsound but also that its identification with the common interest remains problematic.
