Abstract: Typical of modern reflections on justice is a distinction – absent in classical philosophy – between the standpoint of the right or justice and that of the good. Those who have insisted on the sharpness of the distinction have argued mostly for the priority of the right. In this paper the entanglement of the distinction between the right and the good and the priority issue is questioned and a complementarity-thesis will be defended.
