Abstract: The design of the Bolex H-16 film camera stands in stark contrast to that of the Bolex 150. According to the categories established by the Swiss company Paillard S.A. in 1931, the Bolex H-16 (produced commercially from 1935) was designed with the “technician-enthusiast” in mind, whereas the Bolex 150 (released in 1966) was targeted at the “average enthusiast.” How did this distinction influence the conception and design of these two cameras?
