  • Abstract: This paper considers film authorship in a new way — not regarding the œuvre of the director but relating to the objects highlighted in the narrative and décor. Summer Hours (Olivier Assayas, 2008) concerns the liquidation of a French estate replete with Art Nouveau decorative objects designed by famous artists and attached to French patrimonial heritage.
