Abstract: The American TV series Glee (Fox, 2009-) features many music genres and very often songs from the Broadway or the film musical songbook. These showtunes make it possible for the series to target a wide audience. This article focuses on two examples of Broadway shows used by Glee, and highlights significant formal and cultural adaptations. This analysis suggests above all moments of spectacle should be taken into account in order to understand the place of TV series in popular genres.
