Abstract: Using the French régulation school approach, this article provides an analysis of the dynamics of the marketization of the sector of home care services for the elderly in France since the plan for lifestyle and home care services development (2005). The analysis aims to characterize the way in which this marketization transforms the social protection relationship that are related to home care. It combines an analysis of the institutional change related to the marketization and an analysis of competition. Insofar as the different forms of organization in competition are related to different social relationships, the analysis permits to emphasize that the marketization of home care services changes the social protection relationship by an increased involvement of the economic sphere and an increase involvement of the families to provide care.
