Abstract: This paper analyses Blanchot’s commentary on The Malady of Death. Blanchot’s study envisions Duras’ story as a manifestation of the “community of lovers”. Our analysis focuses on the literary and mythological references of women called by Blanchot, in particular Lilith and Iseult. Blanchot’s commentary can also be read as a new dialogue with Levinas’s erotic and ethical thinking.
