Abstract: The limitation in meaning in Creole dictionaries, which are nearly all bilingual, can be largely explained by the implicit comparison which is made with French. The examples given are few and their metaphorical meanings often omitted, even though these are perfectly evidenced in both everyday life and literature. How can we facilitate the development of the Creole lexicon and significant semantic evolutions for the future of these languages in the Caribbean?
