Abstract: These four Latin dialogues defend and illustrate the relationship between French and Greek, and oppose the then commonly held theory of Hebrew as mother-language. Placing the treatise in the context of the literary and political debates of the time, the rich paratext offers a critical analysis of the text and its sources.
