  • Abstract: When translating the Buddhist and Taoist sacred texts, the notions of absence and negation, respectively referred to as "śūnyatā" and "wu-wei", raise questions. Indeed, how to translate the expression of "what is not"? What is at stake here is not only to find an equivalent term of the negative, but rather to understand the Indian logic of the tetralemma. This process expresses the ultimate truth. Without understanding this logical process, the real meaning of sacred texts escapes the translator, and the consequent mistranslations.
