  • Abstract: In the Europe of the second half of the 18th century the number of French translations of women conduct books rose from England indicating a shift in comparison to the beginning of the century when France was defining the norm. This article focuses on the success of Father’s legacy to his daughters by John Gregory whose translations spread in an exceptional way in time (from 1774 to the Restauration) and space (five countries).
