  • Abstract: The “fictionalization” of judicial error in Richard North Patterson’s novel Conviction allows us to analyze the author’s strategy for sharing his literary analysis of the law applicable to the death penalty in the United States. By creating empathy for his characters, the author succeeds in giving the reader the role of judge, charged with deciding one of the most complex legal issues.
