Abstract: In La lucidité, José Saramago questions the blank vote. He dramatizes it in a novel centered on the electoral act. Considered, simultaneously, to be a procedural play, an electoral drama, and a political fable, La lucidité invites legal specialists to re-examine this object and consider it differently, through the lens of literature, voting and election, the power of the people, and democracy.
