  • Abstract: Although election is widely used as the means of appointing rulers, representative democracy deprived women of the right to vote and to stand for election for a long time. While they have always been present at the sides of men in power, they can now stand for election in most countries. This accession of women onto the political stage has been accompanied by their increased visibility in cinema.
