Abstract: In the frame of this research, we are carrying out, firstly, a study of the vicissitudes experienced by the work of the Alicante writer Gabriel Miró (1879-1930), when it was a question of translating it in French and introduce it in France. Secondly, we look at the analysis of the French translation by Valery Larbaud and Noémie Larthe of “Semaine sainte” which is part of the work El humo dormido (1919). We study more particularly the process of translation in the broad sense, based on the analysis of the epistolary exchange between Miró and Larbaud (1881-1957) and, to a lesser extent, in the restricted sense, as defined in the first pages of our article. To achieve this last objective, we focus on certain significant phenomena and translation decisions which will help us to approach, even if only briefly, the Valery Larbaud’s translation theoretical thinking.
