Abstract: Valery Larbaud’s father was a successful industrial pharmacist due the discovery and the exploitation of the springs of mineral waters of Saint-Yorre. Under supervision until twenty years of age, Valery Larbaud since then got the benefit of annual incomes which were quite substantial and allowed him to dedicate oneself to literature under the identity of Archibald Olson Barnabooth, but also as an analyst, talent-spotter, translator.
