Abstract: In his historiographical reflection on Tristan’s work, Amédée Carriat gives pride of place to anthologies. For the critic, anthologies give an indication of literary history’s gradually evolving reception of Tristan’s work. But Carriat also shows that this genre reveals the practices in this discipline. He ultimately situates this phenomenon in a history of mentalities, exploring the appropriation to which Tristan was subjected.
